Global is pleased to announce the successful addition of Boeing 767-300s to their Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST04298CH for Automatic Broadcasting Surveillance Broadcasting(ADS-B Out) utilizing Rockwell Collins TPR-901 Transponders.
Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcasting (ADS-B Out) is an aircraft ground and satellite-based transmission system. This system is apart of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Administration’s (EASA) NextGen initiative. It is intended to increase the safety as well as the efficiency of shared commercial airspace. ADS-B Out makes aircraft visible in-real-time to Air Traffic Control (ATC) by updating with greater frequency and accuracy. The goal is to create a safer, more efficient airspace by reducing ground holds and flight times.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Administration have set mandates for all aircraft flying in commercial and general aviation (GA) airspace, they are as follows:
FAA – December 31, 2019
EASA – June 6, 2020
In May of this year, Global successfully added a second aircraft type to one of our Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for Automatic Broadcasting Surveillance (ADS-B Out.) In conjunction with Blue Panorama Airlines, a charter airline located in Italy, our team has successfully equipped their fleet of B767-300s with ADS-B Out.
Our team worked in close conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Blue Panorama to install the system safely and efficiently. We were able to provide Blue Panorama with a quality engineering package that allowed for the efficient and successful installation of ADS-B Out onto their fleet. After extensive testing to ensure safe system functionality we were able to get their system running, approved, and back in the air quickly in order to minimize the time the aircraft spent on the ground.
Global is currently working on adding more aircraft types to both of our ADS-B Out Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) ST04298CH and ST04299CH.
